The Flying Lotus-esque beats and rustling percussion of Slime’s latest track ‘Bruised’ provide a wonderfully organic base for a wash of gentle saxophones and violins. It’s subdued and relaxing with a slow, isolated rhythm to keep it ticking along, whilst Tamara Quaddoumi’s divine vocals intertwine with the instrumentation for some curious refrains. I have no idea how she managed to get “Bruised on the moon”, but it’s provided the basis for a lovely song.
