Alpines are doing something special. Not just vocally but this South London duo’s whole vibe is pretty particular. Taken from the band’s upcoming and massively anticipated EP Early Hours, latest single ‘Chances’ has an air that stuns; spacious, intense and brimming with beautiful textures amidst lead singer Catherine Pockson’s memorising vocal. Pulsating and biting in honesty, her words seep within our souls, stirring them completely. ‘Only a fool could love you like I do’ : her words exist and connect.

‘Chances’ is a track that surrounds sensually, the musical arrangement sonically is near perfect, dark swimming electronics and sparse beats fill the hollowness and manifest throughout. Woozy atmospherics that would keep the loneliest of nocturnal minds company in after dark stillness. Similarly to work from The XX,  what the band creates summon feelings as one of the most powerful human motivations.

As a band Alpines are chic. Not just in image but creatively as well. Beautifully produced and edited slick videos, press shots and tracks to match are doing the rounds in the blogging world at the moment, and having already secured themselves this hype the releases ahead of the physical EP are building on this excitement.

The best kind of music consists of those moments that affect, hypnotise and trance us and after hearing this track we would be the fools not to let ourselves get lost in ‘Chances.’
