Bondax are 17 and 18 year old George Townsend and Adam Kaye from Lancaster. Although young, they’ve recently created quite a storm in the world of underground electronic music. Here’s what happened when I caught up with the boys:

How did you guys start DJing?

Just kind of fell into it, through a combination of cool cousins and awful electro. From there we’ve both just grown in taste and understanding (we like to believe haha).

You’re pretty young, are you both still at college?

Adam is, George isn’t now.

Are you still living in Lancaster? Do you produce everything there?

Yes we’re still living here at home for now, we plan to move to Manchester within at least the next year if not sooner. George is doing more of the production at the moment so expect much more material to come once we’re both working together more regularly.

How are you finding all of the touring? It must be rather exciting right?

Yeah it’s exciting because we’re both so young obviously. It’s weird for us having not really been to enough nights before we’ve started playing them, maybe that gives us our own youthful style though we can’t really compare ourselves to many other DJs at the moment.

What’s been your favourite show to play so far?

Well it’s not happened yet but we’re massively looking forward to playing alongside  Artful Dodger on the 24th Feb (at Concrete in Shoreditch). It’s something we joked about when we started out and now that it’s happening, it’s a bit mad for us.

Did you think that ‘Just Smile For Me’ would attract the amount of attention that it did?

No, it’s been sick. We’re so grateful to everyone that’s been helping us out and pushing our stuff. We’re constantly looking to better our last though and although we have a sound forming we will be adapting as we things move forward.

How did you go about collaborating with Bobbie Gordon?

Last Japan helped us out, we chatted about looking for a suitable vocalist and he just passed the track on. We chatted to her and she was lovely about it. It was all very internet based but worked well! The guys at four40 were real good too.

Do you have any releases coming out? I think that you should release ‘All Inside.’ I love it, it’s on my current car mixed CD.

Haha thanks, yeah just keep an eye in our direction within the next month. Lots of stuff is about to drop finally! All our originals will come out in some form! It’s been extremely slow business up until now as we’ve gone through a bit of a change in a few ways – especially in our mind sets and the rate at which we are starting to make music so expect to be seeing a few things this year!

Any album plans?

Not for now but probably before we’re 21 at least…

What are you most looking forward to this year?

ooo I’m not sure, I wouldn’t like to say in February because this time last year we had only made 1 original track…but DJing in some interesting places hopefully!

If you’re in London on the 24th February, make sure you catch Bondax playing with Artful Dodger at Concrete on Shoreditch High St.
